Hero of the Romanian folk anecdote, Pacala is known for his humor and cleverness hidden under the mask of ingenuity and simplicity. He treats the authorities in his village (the priest, the nobleman, the policeman) boldly, with sarcastic irony.
Pacalas tricks known in folklore were brought together in Petre Dulfus work. Other writers, such asIon Creanga and Ioan Slavici, were also interested in this character . At Tandarica Animation Theater, the show directed in a burlesque key is full of humor, bringing into attention the world of the Romanian village. The children learn not to be cheated, but also the first steps of a Romanian hora dance.

"... Very interesting in this performance is the alternation between characters played by actors and characters played by puppets, as well as the play of volumes, proportions and perspectives. We find a live Pacala and a little one, a real big-bellied priest and a little one, as unlikable as the first." - Marina Constantinescu, Teatrul azi, no. 6-7-8-9, 2002

"the collaboration between Cristian Pepino and Ioan Brancu is a happy one, because it combines the maestro's theatrical art with the freshness and inventiveness of the young puppeteer, young actors with good voices, a lot of gags, an inspired set, genuine folk costumes, and an adequate music: all this cheers up the audience, teaches the children a lot of good things, and finally urges us to return to the world of simple tales." - Florica Ichim, Romania libera, May, 29, 2002

"Most of us know Pacala as the village fool who, from time to time, cheats and takes revenge on those who want to do him harm. The director and the main actor present an innocent hero who is interested only in living quietly with his beloved cow, Florica. He is always ready to help and to fulfill his duty up to the end. Pacala is a sort of a shepherd, happy to live in the middle of nature, who is not afraid of anything and anybody." - Razvana Nita, Cronica Romana, May 20, 2002.
